Beautiful color but it took me 3 coats to get even coverage and it chipped in less than a day.

I love this colour.
I love this colour. I love my Rouge Noir but I always forget to bring it to my nail place so when I get my nails done I try out all the other super dark red/vampy alternatives. Material Girl requires 3 coats to really reach its maximum potential but I don't mind because the formula is quite light so it dries quickly in between coats. And it has a wonderful jelly quality that I love even though it's such a dark colour, so it's worth the effort of an extra coat. i'd say it's quite different from Rouge Noir which is slightly more brown/blood-like and definitely a cream whereas Material Girl has a slightly cooler tinge to it and the aforementioned jelly quality.
seems like every fall/winter we go thru the same routines.
seems like every fall/winter we go thru the same routines.. look for vampy lips/nails -get out our deeper darker and more serious looking looks. my nails have grown quite a bit -taking extra calcium has helped and I went and scoured my nailpolish bin for the deep aubergine/burgundy shades.I own so many .. and not to boast because if I added up all the dollars spent on beauty items, I would own half of google by now.. but I don't. Back to the review. this is a gorgeous color. almost a Chanel dupe for Rouge Noir. But somehow better. I had my mani/pedi done and did not use a topcoat because I was again in a rush.. three days later it is shiny and perfect. no chips from keyboards, phones, or using my nails as a screwdriver... the color is deep, dark and yet light with a base of deep dark blackened red brown. Not a purple in it.love it and will buy another bottle as this one is getting on in years.
I dig this color, it's a weird and quirky for such a delicate and sheer shade.
I dig this color, it's a weird and quirky for such a delicate and sheer shade. One coat goes on clear and streak free and imparts a subtle green shimmer, not overly noticeable I bet this would look really cool layered and I will continue to experiment. This was a $1 dusty find and am not sure that I would re-buy at full price, but if you are a fan of green or iridescent layering polishes you may want to give this a try!
very deep burgundy.
very deep burgundy. multiple coats needed to get opaque, a little streaky, but not bad over all.
